A research fellow and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Engineering Physics at Tsinghua University, Yuan Hongyong serves as the president of the Beijing Global Safety Co Ltd and is a member of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program, a member of the New Century Talents Project and a leading Beijing talent in science and technology. Yuan primarily participates in the research of public safety science and technology and owns over 20 invention patents, three of which are at international level.

Yuan has published 148 papers and two books, has gained five achievements in science and technology at the provincial and ministerial levels and is the winner of many prizes, including:
