Xing Wanli

Professor Xing Wanli is a research fellow and the doctoral supervisor in the School of Medicine at Tsinghua University, while holding positions as the executive deputy director of the Beijing National Engineering Research Center for Biochips and the senior vice-president and technical director of CapitalBio Corporation.

She was selected as the Ministry of Science and Technology’s young leader in science and technology innovation in 2012 and elected as a member of the Ten Thousand Talents Program (a science and technology innovation program) by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee in 2013.

Xing serves as the secretary general of the National Biochip Standardization Technology Commission.

Xing is also the 2007 winner of the second prize of the National Technology Invention Award and was elected as a member of the New Century Talents Project of the Ministry of Education in the same year. She was granted the title of "Outstanding Worker of National Engineering Research Center" in 2012 before winning the second prize of the Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Award in 2014.  

Xing has gained many results after 16 years of researching and developing biochips. To date, she has 51 related patents-both domestic and abroad-and has published 75 research papers and four books (two in Chinese and two in English) as the chief editor. Xing has also chaired and completed over 10 biochip-related research projects at the national level and has received funds of over 88 million yuan ($13.18 million).

Five national standards, drafted by her, were approved and released.

Together with the entrepreneurship team of National Engineering Research Center, Xing has developed more than 10 unique products which are exported to over 30 countries and regions with an annual sales income exceeding 300 million yuan.
