The main building of the National Art Museum of China was completed in 1962. It is a landmark building on Wusi Avenue in Beijing's Dongcheng district, noted for its distinctive ethnic style.

With an intention of keeping the building's former style, while raising standards and optimizing functions, the museum's reconstruction displays humanistic and environmentally-friendly thoughts in every detail to create an art museum that integrates modern aesthetics and technologies.
