Born in 1968, Huang Yu had his graduate study in the University of Greenwich.

He currently holds many positions such as the chairman of Shenzhen Waranty Asset Management Co Ltd and Shenzhen Huakong Seg Co Ltd, chairman and executive director of Allied Cement Holdings Limited, supervisory board chairman of Penghua Found Management Co Ltd and chairman of Shenzhen Qianhai Hongtai Fund Management Co Ltd. 

He is also the senior vice-president of Tsinghua Holdings Co Ltd and director of Tongfang Co Ltd. Other jobs he has ever taken include the director of Penghua Found Management Co Ltd, chairman of Beijing Tsinghua Unisplendour Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, and chairman of Tsinghua Holdings Human Settlements Environment Institute Co Ltd.
