Reform and Innovation to Make Every Brand New Day Better

Time flies just like when reading a good book. Turning page after page, we finally come to the end of the book of 2016. For the past 365 pages, each page of Tsinghua Holdings tells a new story of our exploration in the quest for creating value, of the endeavors of our tens of thousands of diligent staff members, and of the great support from our friends in all walks of life.

To give this book a name, we might call it Reform and Innovation.

The year 2017 is approaching and at this time of the year, I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks on behalf of Tsinghua Holdings to all our friends who follow our development and express my best New Year greetings to our staff members and their families. 

Throughout the past year of 2016, reform and innovation could be seen in Tsinghua Holdings everywhere and at anytime, a good indication that transformation and innovation at the company will last long into the future.

Over the past year, in line with the trend of global economic integration and the national innovation and entrepreneurship strategy, we have been striding forward through change and innovation. Change and reform have generated tremendous vitality while innovation has promoted new progress, which lead us to our goal of becoming an eco-enterprise focused on technological innovation and services across the world.

In 2016, we launched the “Foot Stone Plan”, pledging 50 billion yuan in research and development for the next five years and setting up a 10 billion yuan fund to support the commercialization of new technology. We also kicked off the “Star-Clustering Plan” to foster more than 500 enterprises with a value of over 100 million yuan each and open 1,000 startup incubation centers in 100 cities in China. We hope that our efforts in technological innovation will contribute to China’s technology progress and that our technological services will nurture promising startups.

Over the past year, six Tsinghua Holdings subsidiaries participated in services and security work for the G20 Hangzhou Summit, each accomplishing its own task and working with others for a successful summit, a clear demonstration of the strength of Tsinghua Holdings.

During the past year, we received many honors and awards for our outstanding brand and down-to-earth work. We are placed the top 200 on the China’s Top 500 enterprises list. As the largest university enterprise in the world, we have won wide attention and recognition from our counterparts.

In 2016, we were pleased to see our subsidiary companies experience rapid development, with some gaining exponential growth. A leading company in public safety and emergency response, Beijing Global Safety Technology went public. The new H3C was established which greatly strengthens the business of Tsinghua Unigroup. Tus-Holdings became the first 100-billion-yuan technological service enterprise in China. Chengzhi Shareholding completed its reorganization of more than 10 billion yuan’s worth of assets. Tsinghua Tongfang achieved steady growth with many of its products and services sold across the world. Tsinghua Holdings Human Settlement Group’s companies won a large number of national and international awards for their professional and brilliant design work. Tsinghua Asset Management increased greatly in scale and operation. The xuetangx.com website brought online education opportunities to more people. CapitalBio Corporation engaged in technology research and development for the benefit of health. And other companies, including Tsinghua University Press, Beijing Huahuan Electronics, Tsinghua Technology and Innovation Holdings, and Tsinghua Holdings Finance all wrote new and exciting chapters in the book of the past year.

During the past year, we achieved the goals set for 2020 in advance, and began our new five-year strategic plan for 2017 to 2021. With new goals ahead, we will set sail again to arrive at a new dream. 

At this moment, I want to say thank you to all the people dedicated to the development of Tsinghua industry. Thank you very much!

Time flies and so does life. Both companies and individuals find it worthwhile to put the unlimited time and life into probing into unknown adventures and pursuing dreams with all our hearts and feelings, as well as to create value and change the world with a strong sense of mission and responsibility. We all want to become valuable people and together be a respectable company, living up to the expectations of the times and staying true to our goals. 

Tomorrow, we will open a new book in which we are ready to write new stories. As for the name of the new book, I think it is still Reform and Innovation. 

The year 2017 is vital to us. In addition to maintaining our advantages, we need to make breakthroughs. We must be aware that we still have a long way to go to become a really great enterprise, as we face great challenges in improving our profits, our management, and control capacity. 

In front of us are mountains to climb and rivers to cross. Although the future is full of hope, the road ahead remains long and difficult. The only thing we can do is keep moving with no fear of the difficulties and obstacles. We must continue our reform and innovation to keep up with the times and create value for a better world.

We sincerely hope we can cooperate with all the friends from home and abroad for a promising future.
