Nominated Certificate of FIDIC 2016 Award
The Electric Power of the State Grid Corporation of China project at Caishikou, Beijing, designed by the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Tsinghua Holdings Habitat Development Group, won the Nominated Certificate of FIDIC2016 Award.
The FIDIC (Fédération lnternationale Des lngénieurs Conseils), founded in 1913 in Belgium by five separate European consulting engineer associations, is recognized by the World Bank as a leading consulting engineer organization.
The Electric Power of the State Grid Corporation of China project at Caishikou, Beijing.
As the design consultancy for State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) on the construction of the project, the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University Co., Ltd. shouldered the entire design work, including early research and planning, architectural design, preliminary design, and construction drawings, and cooperated with SGCC on the construction itself.
The project was completed in May, 2014, with total investment of 2.16 billion yuan ($314.18 million). It has two parts -- the main power house of the 220KV transformer substation and an electric science and technology museum. It is worth mentioning that the substation, located on the third to fifth underground floors, is the world’s first visitable underground 220KV intelligent transformer substation.
The second floor underground houses a subsidiary facility -- the Electric Science and Technology Museum -- and the offices of the electric power customer center.
It attempted to conclude a comprehensive solution to problems of newly built urban substations, such as a lack of mixed utilization, low development intensity, highly closed systems and the incompatibility between station architecture and urban environments, through increased communication between government departments, investors, builders and users.
The substation is the world’s first visitable underground 220KV intelligent transformer substation.
