Tile Yard, ArcAsia Award Gold medal winner designed by THAD

The Olympic Common Domain (OCD) in Beijing not only contains the sports venues for the 2008 Olympics, but also houses a sunken network of commercial and transportation facilities built in the style of a classical garden. The garden connects the subway and businesses with the surface of the area, and is divided into seven yards.

Yard No 2, named Tile Yard, was designed by Tsinghua Holdings' subsidiary the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University (THAD).

The yard won a gold medal at the ArcAsia Awards in 2012 for its elegant design, which uses traditional Chinese elements to create an oasis of tranquility and leisure in the bustling city while highlighting the city's rich cultural heritage.
