XuetangX committed to further global education

The 2017 IKCEST & ICEE International Engineering Education Training Workshop was held in Beijing on Nov 5-14, attracting 14 international students from developing countries in Africa, including Kenya, Zambia and Ghana.  

The training was co-organized by XuetangX.com, the largest Chinese massive open online courses (MOOC) platform for courses initiated by Tsinghua University, the International Knowledge Center for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO (IKCEST) and the International Center for Engineering Education under the Auspices of UNESCO (ICEE).

It aimed to promote IKCEST's knowledge service system and advance cooperation with the African Engineering Education Association in a bid to consolidate a base to build up engineering online education services specific to Africa.

Li Chao, president of XuetangX.com, said at the opening ceremony that people had to travel in person to the world's top universities to gain advanced knowledge in the past; but today, they can use the computers or mobile phones at home to join the classes given by teachers at top schools.

A world leading all-life online learning platform and an online education platform for the ICEE, XuetangX has established connections with state governments and universities in Africa, helping them build platforms and sharing with them educational resources, Li added.

During the training, there were lectures, discussions, and visits for trainees to know more about China's education and Chinese culture. They received a certificate of completion after the 10-day training.
