Tsinghua enterprises shine at Smart China Expo

The first Smart China Expo kicks off in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Aug 23.

Tsinghua Tongfang, Tsinghua Unigroup, TusHoldings, CapitalBio, and GSafety, under Tsinghua Holdings, showcased their products at the first Smart China Expo held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality from Aug 23 to 25.

Themed "Smart Technology: Empowering Economy, Enriching Life", the expo highlights new products, technologies, and models in the global development of big data and intelligent industries. 

Tsinghua Tongfang empowers traditional industries with big data, core technologies

Tsinghua Tongfang, a high-tech listed company founded by Tsinghua University, exhibited a wide range of products, including intelligent terminals, inspection systems, internet-based knowledge data base and solutions that integrate cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence for China's smart industry.

Tongfang's subsidiary Nuctech Co Ltd released the 2.0 version of its logistics platform and terminal devices designed for China Railway Express. The company also exhibited other cutting-edge security inspection solutions, such as the Weknow Smart Imaging System, the Millimeter Body Inspection System, and the Tera Hertz Personnel Screening System.

During the three-day expo, Nuctech provided entrance security service with its advanced inspection systems.

Cnki.net, the world's largest Chinese information retrieval database run by Tsinghua Tongfang, also presented its specialized industry databases and information service platforms for different sectors, such as agriculture, government administration, and smart manufacturing knowledge management.

Tsinghua Tongfang is committed to further combining industry data with science data and creating a coordinated innovation environment featuring customized knowledge services, so as to create more dynamism in smart industries.

Tongfang is making full use of its big data expertise and cloud computing technology to equip more traditional factories with digital management and smart manufacturing solutions.

From chip manufacturer to cloud service provider, Tsinghua Unigroup upends traditional industries with innovation

Located at the booth of Unigroup was a chip wall comprised of over 100 carefully selected chips developed for various scenarios, including System on Chip (SoC), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).

Tsinghua Unigroup also showcased the 32-layer 3D NAND flash memory chips that are expected to begin mass production in the fourth quarter of 2018.The new technology breakthrough on 3D NAND flash—Xtacking™ will help boost NAND I/O performance, higher bit density, and a shorter time to market. 

Guoxin Micro, under Tsinghua Unigroup, is a listed chip production company specializing in ID verification, financial payments, mobile communication, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data. The company displayed its various high performance chips, including FPGA chip, PGT180H. 

Unigroup Spreadtrum, a fabless semiconductor company that develops core chip sets for mobile and IoT, shared its highly-integrated LTE solution—Spreadtrum SC9863. 

Through its intelligent AI algorithm, Spreadtrum SC9863 can achieve real-time context detection recognition, support a 16MP primary camera, and support a 1080P HD video and FHD+ display, simultaneously enhancing the phone's abilities and providing a top-notch user experience. 

In addition, Unigroup Spreadtrum's Pilot-V2, a prototype machine, are designed for various experiments in 5G or NR scenarios.

Tsinghua Unigroup also showcased a wide spectrum of cloud services for government administration, public security, online finance, medical imaging, and industry internet. Some of these turn-key services, especially those for construction projects and the Internet of Vehicles, are already on trial runs in many cities, including the host city Chongqing.

Smart health care and city governance in the spotlight

As an important partner of Chongqing's municipal government, CapitalBio Technology, under Tsinghua Holdings' CapitalBio Corporation, showcased its industry-leading bio-chip products, high-throughput micro-array scanning, and individual-oriented customized health management systems.

The white of the eye imaging smart analyzer, in particular, attracted great attention during the expo. It combines traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis theory with modern medical equipment, and has been playing an important role in the ongoing diabetes control program in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing.

GSafety, the only research spin-off of the Institute of Public Safety Research at Tsinghua University, released its smart city solution for public security and emergency management. The solution takes every aspect of city governance into account through networks, clouds, and real-time monitoring, and it offers timely support for the government's situational analysis and decision-making.
