The second international online engineering education forum in 2018 

The International Center for Engineering Education (ICEE) under the UNESCO announced that XuetangX, affiliated to MOOC-CN Education, a member enterprise of Tsinghua Holdings, is its first global partner on Apr 19.

XuetangX, China’s first platform of MOOC set up by Tsinghua University in Oct 2013, serves not only the Ministry of Education but also UNESCO ICEE as anonline platform for educational research exchanges.

Since June 2016, XuetangX has been working towards the launch and operation of ICEE’s online platform. The two sides have also carried out a series of work projects including data sharing, course construction, knowledge services and holding international conferences which hasgreatly advancedtheir influence.

For example, in May 2017, under the initiative of ICEE, XuetangX worked to deliver superior educational resources to Africa by setting up an online learning platform for the University of Lagos in Nigeria.

In 2017 and 2018, together with IKCEST and ICEE of UNESCO, XuetangX held two training classes in China to expandan engineering education service system and cooperation with the Africa Engineering Education Academy (AEEA). In addition, it held an international online engineering education forum to realize a combination ofonline education, smart teaching andspecific engineering education.

To serve the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, IKCEST, ICE, Tsinghua University and XuetangX also researched and developed computer-related mixed learning programs where world-renowned experts and senior professors givecustomized lectures to students in both online and offline classes.

The courses cover a wide range of topics including basic computer programming, data mining, scientific thinking and development methodology andreal story sharing of leading engineers. All the students who pass the evaluation areeligible for anonline course-completion certificate.

The international computer-related program has been highly approved this year by domestic and foreign experts and is gradually drawing an increasing number of learners from home and abroad.

ICEE is a secondary platform of UNESCO which pays special attention to engineering education quality indeveloping countries and innovation-driven and industry-university cooperation. It has also become a high-level international platform for talent cultivation andthink tank research, as well as a consultation center.

As of March 2019, XuetangX had offered more than 2,000 courses from enterprises and world-leading universities such as Tsinghua, Peking, Stanford and MITto more than 18 million learners from more than 200 countries and regions.
