Four teams from Tsinghua University entered the final round of the just-concluded 5th China College Students "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
It was Tsinghua’s best performance ever at the event.
Three of the teams, event champion Tsingaero Armament and two silver prize winners Tsinghua Chip Future and Cytoniche, were incubated by TusStar, a subsidiary of Chinese science park giant Tus-Holdings, a member enterprise of Tsinghua Holdings.
Meanwhile, a project incubated by the TusStar (Jurong) incubator and a porcupine breeding project incubated by Tus K-Lab Café also received prizes at the final.

Chinese science park giant Tus-Holdings has helped Tsinghua University build an incubation system unique in the world over the past 25 years.
The two sides launched a course on starting up new enterprises in 2011, which has nurtured about 200 entrepreneurial student teams. About 50 percent of them have set up businesses.
TusStar has been supporting the Tsinghua President’s Innovation Challenge competition for years and offered seed funding for the event. According to incomplete statistics, around 30 enterprises among the Top 10 in the past five president’s innovation challenge events have settled in TusStar parks.
It also organizes innovation and entrepreneurial practices for Tsinghua x-lab and helps them make full use of Tus-Holdings’ global innovation incubation resources, and facilitates college students’ start-ups.
TusStar has launched a group of plans to incubate enterprises and created an incubation plus investment mode for the companies’ development.
Tsingaero Armamentjoined university-based education platform Tsinghua x-lab in October 2015 and settled in TusStar incubator in May 2016.
The company’s award-winning project at 5th China College Students "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is the world's first cross twin rotor composite thrust tail rotor unmanned helicopter, which has the advantages of heavy load, stable control and fast penetration.
Its load is 30 percent higher than the traditional helicopter’s configuration, and its speed is 100 km / h higher than the same type of aircraft.
At present, the team has completed the first flight with the load of 60 kg, 100 kg and 300 kg, and is working on a higher load of 500 kg.
The project was supported by the equipment research fund of the army and is included in the military weapon procurement catalogue, becoming the army’s first composite propulsion helicopter equipment development project.
Tsinghua Chip Future founded and settled in TusStar incubator in August 2018.
The company specializes in the R&D, design and production of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and formaldehyde sensors.
Its core products are high performance high-tech products based on highly active nano electrocatalysts, solid electrolyte technology, and microelectronics technology.
The company’s VOCs sensors are mainly used to monitor manufacturers for industrial pollution sources, environmental monitoring points and environmental air quality monitoring of factories and roads.
Its formaldehyde sensors are mainly sold to manufacturers of air purifiers, formaldehyde detectors for formaldehyde content monitoring in residential environment such as home, offices, nursing homes and vehicles.
At present, the initial generation of products has been formed and is still upgrading, and the performance is also constantly improving.
Their performance indexes are ready for commercial use, and the current products have been recognized and purchased by leading enterprises in the industry.
Cytonichewas settled in TusStar incubator in August 2018.
Cytoniche is focusing on 3D micro tissue engineering technology. Its core technology was transformed from Tsinghua University’s sci-tech achievements.
It offers customized, large-scale, automatic and intelligent stem cell cultivation and expansion technology; new drugs for 3D stem cell micro tissue regeneration therapy and 3D cell high-throughput drug screening products.
The traditional stem cell cultivation technology adopts a two-dimensional artificial technology while the company’s 3D micro tissue engineering technology achieves one-man operation and large-scale production of stem cells in an enclosed and continuous way.
The team members of the Xiaozhu Haohao project
An agricultural and forestry development company in Diqing county, Yunnan province was rewarded for its “Xiaozhu Haohao”, a porcupine breeding project at the competition.
He Yongqun, founder of the company, launched a workstation in the Tus K-Lab Café in Yunnan University, marking the project’s expansion in the country and even abroad.
The breeding bases are located in rural areas of Yunnan and have helped lift more than 3,400 households out of poverty in Diqing and Nujiang.
A breeding base of the Xiaomeihao project
A strawberry breeding project, called Xiaomeihao, was incubated by the TusStar (Jurong) center and a local vocational school in Jiangsu province. It specializes in the production and sale of virus-free strawberry seedlings.
It provides farmers with integrated technical services ranging from strawberry seedling production to cultivation management and sales.
In 2018, the sales volume of the company exceeded 10 million yuan. A total of 236 households received free technical support and 52 people were employed locally.
The base was named a provincial women’s demonstration base and women’s modern agricultural technology demonstration base of Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province.
