On Sept 8, the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) announced the 70 winners of the 2020 BALI National Landscape Awards. The Tsinghua Tongheng Urban Planning & Design Institute’s (THUPDI) landscape design of Jinhua Huhaitang Park was one of them.
BALI is a leading trade association for UK landscape professionals. Established in 1972, it has vetted over 900 professionals including garden designers, landscape contractors and suppliers of landscaping materials to ensure that the highest level of industry standards are met.
THUPDI has won 19 BALI awards over a ten year period.
THUPDI’s design for the park aims to improve the local environment and create a comprehensive leisure and entertainment resource for residents. Huhaitang, covering an area of 381 hectares, is the largest urban lake in Jinhua, Zhejiang province. It has a development history of nearly 1,000 years.

In the design, 62 hectares of green space and 143 new plant types are added to the park, which will effectively alleviate the urban heat island effect and make the park a new green landmark of Jinhua.
