Dec 2: THUPDI wins BALI National Landscape Award

On Dec 2, 2016 (London time), Tsinghua Tongheng Urban Planning and Design Institute (THUPDI), a subsidiary of Tsinghua Holdings Habitat Development Group, was announced as the winner of the International Award at the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) National Landscape Awards in London, UK. This was the sixth consecutive year THUPDI has won this prestigious landscape design award.

Dec 5: Canada's SFU enhances cooperation with Tsinghua Holdings in technology transfer

A team from Simon Fraser University (SFU) led by its vice-president Joy Johnson visited Tsinghua Holdings Co Ltd on Dec 5 in Beijing. They discussed technological achievement transfer, university enterprise systems, the operation of overseas incubators, and collaboration among universities.

Dec 9: Xu Jinghong discusses cooperation with economy and finance secretary of Macao SAR Government

Tsinghua Holdings Chairman Xu Jinghong met Leong Vai Tac, secretary for economy and finance of Macao Special Administrative Region, on Dec 9. Tsinghua Holdings hopes to expand its cooperation with Macao SAR to help advance technological innovation and youth entrepreneurship in Macao. 

Dec 12: Tsinghua Unigroup and New H3C Group ink strategic agreements with Chengdu

Tsinghua Unigroup, one of Tsinghua Holdings' major subsidiaries which specializes in integrated circuit design and manufacturing, will work with Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province, to invest a total of 200 million yuan ($28 million) in constructing an integrated circuit (IC) ecosystem, focusing on microchip research and development, design and manufacturing. Tsinghua Unigroup's subsidiary New H3C Group, a world-leading provider of new IT solutions, also established a partnership with Chengdu, signing an agreement with the city on the same day.

Dec 12: TusHoldings and Federal University of Rio De Janeiro Technology Park sign cooperation agreement on TusStar in South America

On Dec 12, TusHoldings, a technological service company and a subsidiary of Tsinghua Holdings, signed a cooperation agreement with the Technology Park of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PT-UFRJ) at the Embassy of Brazil to China. They will establish a TusStar center for business, technology and innovation in Rio de Janeiro and a technology and innovation center of PT-UFRJ in Beijing. The two centers are expected to facilitate the cross-border development and promote cooperation between Chinese and Brazilian enterprises.

Dec 15: Spreadtrum partners with Algerian cellphone maker Condor to provide North African users with a high-performance LTE smartphone solution

Spreadtrum Communications, a China's leading fabless semiconductor company with advanced technology in 2G, 3G, and 4G wireless communications standards, announced on Dec 15 that its LTE SoC platform SC9832 had been adopted by Algerian cellphone brand Condor. The two companies will work to provide high-performance LTE smartphone solutions for the North African market.  

Dec 15-23: THAD & AAVS Beijing 2016 takes place

The Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University Co Ltd (THAD), affiliated to Tsinghua Holdings Habitat Development Group, together with the UK Architectural Association School of Architecture and Beijing National Aquatics Center Water Cube Co Ltd, held the design workshop THAD & AAVS Beijing 2016 in Beijing from Dec 15 to 23. Themed Su(pe)rReal 3.0: Data, Design, Water Cube, the workshop was designed to brainstorm innovative ideas for the future use of the Water Cube, the venue for the swimming and diving events during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Water Cube will be used for the curling events at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The workshop encouraged architecture students to explore ways to promote the efficient usage of Olympic venues.

Dec 29: China's F-class heavy-duty gas turbine combustor passes full-temperature, full-pressure and full-scale test

Beijing Huaqing Gas Turbine and the Coal Gasification Combined Cycle Engineering Technology Co Ltd, a company in which Tsinghua Holdings is a co-investor, made a significant breakthrough in China's independent research and development of F-class heavy-duty gas turbines by achieving a full-temperature, full-pressure and full-scale combustor test of its F-class heavy-duty gas turbines.

Dec 30: Tsinghua Unigroup invests in a memorizer base project in Wuhan

Tsinghua Unigroup, the world's third largest mobile phone chip manufacturer and a subsidiary of Tsinghua Holdings Co Ltd, along with local funders in Hubei province, has invested in a national memorizer base project in Wuhan, Hubei province. Construction began on the project on Dec 30, 2016. With a total investment of $24 billion, it will specialize in producing memory chips and the total output is expected to reach 300,000 pieces per month. 

Late Nov:Nuctech body inspection solution passes ECAC standard test

In late November, European Civil Aviation Conference announced on its website that the NUCTECHTM MW1000AA, a high-performance, efficient body inspection solution produced by Nuctech, a subsidiary of Tsinghua Tongfang Co, passed the Security Scanner A Standard 2 test, the first and only Chinese product to pass this test. The millimeter-wave scanners are used in places that require rigorous security checks, such as airports and customs.
